About

Galerie Sechzig, which focuses on contemporary figurative art, was reestablished in 2018 by art historian Calvin Mechora in collaboration with art historian Leonie Hirn. The Gallery exhibits emerging international contemporary artists.

Galerie Sechzig was originally established in 1989 in Feldkirch by the deceased lawyer, artist and gallery owner Gerold Hirn and his wife Sabine. Until the year 2014, when the gallery was closed after 25 years activity, more than 150 exhibitions with international, national as well as regional contemporary artists took place. Among them Günther Uecker, Maria Lassnig, Hermann Nitsch, Martha Jungwirth, Li Gang, Bruno Gironcoli, Antoni Tapies, Peter Kogler, Paul Giovanopoulos, Jürgen Partenheimer or FLATZ. In 2015, the cultural initiative “Dialogue and Art” was launched by Sabine and Gerold Hirn. Since 2015, the gallery functioned as a platform for events of various kinds. Due to renovations, the exhibitions of the institution Kunst Palais Liechtenstein took place in the premises of Galerie Sechzig from April 2017 until 2018. These exhibitions were collaborations with the curators Leonie Hirn and Calvin Mechora.
